With handsome touches of European Spanish Style, this stately 2,193 sq ft home is nestled atop a hill in Oakland’s coveted Trestle Glen neighborhood. Built in 1929, the 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home offers modern updates without losing its classic elegance.
Light and air seamlessly flow throughout the house, especially when the French doors are open on both levels. The living room’s French doors open out onto a beautifully bricked patio where you can enjoy your morning espresso and look out at the terraced and tranquil back yard. There is a formal dining room with grand windows overlooking the tree-lined street, as well as a breakfast nook with built in kitchen. Create an epicurean feast while your family or guests watch on! The freshly updated kitchen has a butcher block countertop with gas cooktop, quartz counter tops, subway tiles, a deep farmhouse sink, and beautiful crisp white and contrasting rich dark cupboards with storage galore! Recessed lighting, and a mix of period and new light fixtures warm the heart of the home. Although updated, there are classic touches that remain in the home, like original light sconces, built in cabinetry, and even a rare vintage Modern Maid chrome toaster recessed into the wall in the kitchen.
A cedar lined handsome half bath is conveniently just off the kitchen, and the four bedrooms, (one of which is a handsome office), and two full bathrooms, are upstairs.
The skylight over the stairs brightens the rich wood flooring and wooden details throughout the home, continuing the flow of light. For the Work From Home life, the upstairs greets you with an old-world study with parquet wood floors, a balcony, and built-in bookshelves, where you can set up a proper desk to join your zoom meeting (or finally finish your manuscript!)
The additional three bedrooms offer large closets with custom built in cabinets, ample light, and views of the neighborhood or back terrace. The primary bedroom is peaceful and elegant, with an adjoining full bathroom with updated tiling and light features. One bedroom has French doors which open out on to the second terrace and large deck, which has substantial room for outdoor entertaining.
This two-story home offers residents a single car garage and a spacious 5,355 sq ft lot that has been freshly landscaped. And don’t miss! The basement has additional storage, the laundry, a wine cellar, and a sauna!

Trestle Glen
Just east of Lakeshore Avenue there is the magical neighborhood that is Oakland’s Trestle Glen. A romantic blend of Tudor, Spanish Colonial and Italian Renaissance homes are nestled on streets that conform to the curvy patterns, typical of early 20th century garden suburbs. The neighborhood was named after a railroad trestle which ran along Trestle Glen Creek, but that was ultimately dismantled in 1906 when the line was rerouted. Residents are just a quick walk away from bustling Lake Merritt and Lakeshore Ave., a neighborhood filled with cafes, restaurants, and favorites like Arizmendi Bakery, Grand Lake Theater, a weekly farmer’s market, and staples like Trader Joes. Just up the street on Park Ave. are neighborhood beloved restaurants Paulista, Bellanico and Marzano to name a few! You will know and smile at your neighbors as you stroll the area, and enjoy the stately homes and lush greenery that surrounds the neighborhood. Just up the road is Piedmont Park where you can stop and smell the roses, or even closer is Bridgeview Trailhead of meandering Sausal Creek.
